How long is each session?
45 minutes. But certain programs allow you to attend two 45 min sessions back to back = 90 mins. with a short break in between.
How often should I attend class?
It’s up to you but at least Once a week. Obviously the more often you train the better the results. Most members attend 2 sessions per week.
What are the chances I will go home with a black eye every now and then?
There is almost no chance of such thing happening (unless by accident - rarely) as these programs (both) are “non-contact” styles. Contact sparring can be arranged for, but only for those interested in in going home with a bruise!
How can I get started?
You should start your training with a Trial Session or Course. After completing the trial phase, if you find that our training is what you have been looking for, you will decide how often you wish to train and, will start attending class regularly.
What if I am not in good shape? Can I still participate?
You sure can. Most of the exercises and the intensity of your training is easily ‘adjustable’ and can match your abilities and fitness level. If you are not in great shape you have that much More reason to begin training NOW! Self defense skills aside, Classic karate is well know as an effective training ’system’ which step by step helps practitioners with their over-all physical/mental development and fitness. Fitness kickboxing also is very effective as a fitness program. You may want to start with Fitness Kickboxing (which is easier to follow) and later add Classic Karate also, for best results.
What if I do have previous experience?
You will pick everything up a lot faster in that case, of course. But, we still should cover the basic skills with you to ensure that your understanding of the techniques or routines is consistent with everyone else’s. Members with previous experience will be expected to put themselves through a Formal Exam. in order to find their rank (according to our requirements).
