Bunkaido Karate

Bunkaido is a ’sub-system’ of Shotokan developed and introduced by Sensei Emami.

In Bunkaido the skills hidden in traditional Katas are studied and specialized in. Those who choose to go in the direction of Bunkaido (vs. JKA style) - starting from 3rd kyu level in Shotokan - will spend extra time mastering the bunkai applications, and will be tested on them.

Bunkaido is particularly beneficial to those interested in day to day self defense (and not very interested in sparring). It also provides the experienced shotokan practitioners with another dimension and challenge in thier training.
