Karate Kid Programs

This program is designed for two age groups:

a) Kids from 4 to 7

b) Kids from 8 to 12

With kids we do not necessarily cover the JKA curriculum in the order it’s usually taught to adults. As we believe that karate, if taught in a traditional form, may be a little too much for young children.

As kids show more and more ability to stay focused in class and follow our instructions we introduce them to more challenging exercsies and routines.  We have learned from experience that when we put young kids under too much pressure we simply lose their interest (in most cases anyway) and, by doing so we may not be able to help them in any shape or form after all.  That is not what parents bring their kids to us for — for the kids to LOSE interest and drop out.

Students (or their parents) should not be in too much of a rush, chasing the belts. Rather, they are encouraged and advised to approach their training with patience, looking for Real and Profound Differnece.

Some of the main reasons why kids taking up karate do not excel and drop out are a) Poor Fitness level of the prticipants,  b) limited attention span/ability to focus  and  c) the program being too rigid and ry, lacking the Fun Factor. the first thing the kids look forward o when they come to class.

Being aware of these obstacles, at The Powerhouse, we design our classes in such a way that the kids learn what they should learn while having fun at the same time with exra-curricular activities and games.
